Most retailers offer some kind of money service these days, such as cashing checks. But what about Rite Aid and other drugstores?
This post covers everything you need to know about the check cashing services at Rite Aid, alternative places to cash a check, and more.

Can Rite Aid Cash Checks?
Similar to most drugstores and pharmacies, Rite Aid can’t cash checks or any other money services. However, you can pay for your order with a personal check at most of the Rite Aid locations. Alternative places for cashing checks include Walmart, Kroger, your bank or credit union, and more.
It’s unclear if Rite Aid will change its policy or offer financial services in the future, but as of 2022 none of its locations can cash checks or money orders.
Why Won’t Rite Aid Cash Checks?
Some retailers don’t have the means to cash checks, and that’s typically the case with drugstores and most convenience stores. They focus on helping their customers with a few main things instead of offering a wide range of services like big retailers.
Not only would they need to have money on hand to cash a check, but they would need to train their staff, invest in a check verification system, and enforce certain policies. All of this requires resources that most drugstores and similar places simply don’t want to take on.
Additionally, cashing checks and money orders poses a risk to the store. It’s fairly easy to cash a fraudulent check and offering check cashing services would mean that the store takes on that risk.
