What is DoorPass?
DoorPass is a special feature for some Chase credit card customers which gives a discount for the DashPass subscription. The subscription usually costs $9.99/month, but is complimentary for one year for many Chase credit card customers. A DoorPass or DashPass subscription provides free delivery for many orders over $12.00.
How Much Does DoorPass Cost?
DoorPass or DashPass normally costs $9.99 per month, however, Chase recently partnered with DoorDash to offer a special deal for many of its customers.
Now, many Chase credit card customers are eligible to activate a complimentary one-year subscription to DoorPass or DashPass, saving them the $9.99 subscription fee for 12 months, as well as the delivery fees.
Of course, after the 12-month complimentary period, the $9.99 per month charge will go into effect unless the customer cancels in advance of that charge being effective.
Why Did I Get a $9.99 DoorDash Charge?
If you accepted the one-year complimentary DoorPass or DoorDash subscription through your Chase credit card but then forgot to cancel before the end of the 12-month period, you are going to see $9.99 charge from DoorDash on your credit card statement.
If you enjoy and use the DashPass enough to make the $9.99 per month subscription fee worthwhile, then you might want to continue paying it.

Is DoorPass Worth It?
For many reasons, more people are using food delivery services for more and more of their food consumption.
The practice accelerated quickly during the pandemic as many people either wanted to avoid, or were forced to avoid, being in close contact with others such as in a restaurant or even grocery store.
The peace of mind of having food delivered in a safe and no-contact manner is worth extra money to many people. And having delicious, professionally prepared food delivered safely and conveniently is highly valued by many people as well, especially by people who may be short on time, but not too short on money.
If one can save some of that money, however, that is almost always even better!
The delivery fee per order does vary, but is reported to typically be between $1.99 to $5.99 per order.
So for anyone who orders (or would like to order) food delivery more than two or three times a month, a $9.99 per month DashPass or DoorPass is most likely worthwhile.
If you can get a 12-month DoorPass for free through your Chase membership, it’s pretty obviously a great deal.
When DoorPass or DashPass Might Not Be Worth It
It is important to keep an eye on which restaurants you frequently order from or would like to order from. Not all restaurants participate in the DashPass or DoorPass free delivery. If your favorite restaurant is one that doesn’t participate, you won’t get the full benefits of the subscription, and in this case, the paid subscription might not be worth it for you.
Also, keep in mind that even if the restaurant does participate in the program, the free delivery is typically only applicable on orders of $12. Again, if you don’t usually meet this threshold for your orders, you might want to reconsider the subscription.

DoorPass versus Other Delivery Subscriptions
DoorDash is by far the industry leader in on-demand food delivery, and for good reason. Recent statistics show that their overall delivery business is more than double that of their closest competitor, Uber Eats.
By providing superior value to their restaurant partners, DoorDash has been able to partner with far more restaurants than the other food delivery companies. This gives you, the customer, many more options.
How to Cancel DoorPass
Perhaps because DoorPass is offered through Chase, some people have reported extra difficulty in cancelling it.
DoorDash recommends going to your app, then tap the “Account” icon (top left), go to “Manage DashPass” and then “End Subscription.” Then confirm “End Subscription” on the next page. You can follow these same instructions on the website on your desktop computer, as well.
To avoid being charged, DoorDash states you must cancel one day or more before subscription is scheduled to renew.
