It can be frustrating for you as the customer, but it is not an uncommon issue.
At no point does DoorDash guarantee that you will be assigned a driver to deliver your food. Even though that is what all customers would automatically expect to happen.

If someone does end up taking on your order later on, but you have decided that you no longer want it. You can cancel the order as long as the restaurant hasn’t started your food.
As long as your food has not yet been prepared. You can still cancel your order and get a full refund.
Can I Get An Order Refund?
DoorDash will always give you a full refund for any orders that were not assigned to a driver. This is because they did not fulfill their end of the job by getting your food to you.
If you are not assigned a driver, your order will not go any further. This is because DoorDash doesn’t want a restaurant to make your order if there is no one to get it.
Generally, DoorDash will give a refund for all canceled orders. As long as your food has not been prepared yet. Or the driver has not picked up the food.
If you cancel after one of these things has happened. You will not get a full refund. At best, you will only get a delivery fee refund.
If you or DoorDash cancels your unassigned order, you should get an immediate refund into your account. Just be aware that this processing time can take anywhere from 5 to 7 days. Not including extra time around holidays or the weekend.
If you do not see your refund, you can directly contact DoorDash support to let them know about the problem. If there was an error in refunding you, they will be able to quickly fix it.
